Where is (Linux) VPN Client Software?

I have configured a Linksys VPN (locally), but I can not determine
how to connect to the VPN remotely. I assume that I need a VPN
Client, but I can not find a suitable one on the Internet. My
primary interest is connecting a remote Linux host. Yet, I did
find documentation on configuring Windows XP for remote VPN (so
I should be set from MS end). I would like a simple explanation
and a download site with good documentation (for Linux).

Configuration examples are to be found on http://jixen.tripod.com/ and
there is a screenshot documented example for Win2k-FreeS/WAN at the end
too.

Does the Linksys manual list what VPN protocols are supported?

IPsec with DES|3DES encryption and MD5|SHA authentication.
I do appreciate the information, this is a big help.
