IMHO, you have to keep the domain control in
Windows boxes only or in Linux/Samba boxes, but not
mixed. This is due to that the Domain Control transfer
protocol is not documented and not well supported
outside Microsoft.
The file servers, DHCP servers, name servers and FTP
(my preference: SCP) servers are pretty easily moved.
The same applies to mail, though, IMHO, Sendmail is
by far the most difficult mail handler to set up and
maintain.
For a mixed Windows / Linux network the files need to
be served with Samba. For a Linux / Linux (and MAC OSX)
file connection, NFS gives better attribute handling.
