i have two basic questions. i want to replicate what i can do in
windows xp with my linux box. in windows xp, i use a vpn then launch
netmeeting to login into my company's network which then talks to my
machine at work and with netmeeting set to allow remote desktop sharing
at work i can direct my computer at work (with the netmeeting
application at home) like i'm sitting in front of my work machine.
i've followed the directions to set up vpn on my fedora core 4 machine
:
http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/ho...a-core-4.phtml
all i have to do now is understand how to configure the vpn and then
configure gnomemeeting to do what i outlined above. the problem is
that i don't understand any of this stuff.
here are the questions.
(1) i've read in this article
(
http://www.pscu.com/articles/2206,4,43,1,0601,03.html) that
gnomemeeting can't do everything that netmeeting does. in fact the
article says "A Linux application called GnomeMeeting supports the
latter two functions but not the shared desktop." i suppose this means
that gnomemeeting cannot do what i'm describing... i'd just like some
sort of confirmation of this and also if anyone has succeeded in doing
remote desktop sharing (RDS)...
(2) if RDS is possible are there materials on the web that would
explain what the server tab on the pptp configure screen means? is the
server the server at work? since i'm connecting to a microsoft VPN
adapter that means i'll need the mppe...
i've googled for vpn, netmeeting, linux, etc... and i couldn't find
anything i can understand. just looking for a nudge in the right
direction. thank you.
