Linux-compatible PCMCIA wireless card supporting WPA?

Is it yet possible to do reasonably secure wireless (i.e. WPA) under
Linux with a PCMCIA wireless card?

I currently own a new ORiNOCO Gold 802.11b/g card (not the classic
ORiNOCO, which is 802.11b and compatible with Linux). I'm pondering
adding Linux to my IBM Thinkpad T22...but I'm curious if it'll mean I
have to say goodbye to reasonably secure wireless connectivity when
booting into Linux.

Are there any PCMCIA cards that would enable me to use WPA under
Linux? Or am I incorrect in my statement about driver support for my
Proxim/ORiNOCO Gold?

TIA for any information!

Best Regards,

This should be possibile.. I'm a user of a Orinoco Gold (802.11b), which
works sensationally. Admitedly, though - I haven't played with the
security settings. I use it primarily at my Uni, where we have a wireless
network going. We use a slightly more solid securty platform - a VPN.

All network traffic is encrypted between ourselves and the server behind
the AP. This does mean for the need to compile a Kernel module, but it
works pretty well (and not ever man and his walky-talky can read my IP
data!). Maybe the VPN option is worth looking into...

Surely the newer Orinico cards are okay with all this? Hopefully someone
else can shed some light here.

The silence is deafening. :-)

Is anyone using WPA wifi security under Linux yet? Or is it too new
for driver and supplicant suppot?

I'm using a Symbol Spectrum24 with encryption. At least it didn't
work until I entered the same key to the card as the access point.

Mans, are you talking about WEP or WPA?

Sorry, I'm using WEP. I saw security and an acronym starting with a
W, and skipped the rest. I don't know about WPA support.
