My router has DHCP setup from 192.168.0.1 - 250. My four pc's and 3
laptops took the first 7 slots. Once I added the switch all the IP's
jumped to over 250 starting at 192.168.0.252 and can nolonger reach the
router.

what causes this and how do I correct it?

I tried powering down to reset the ip address. I tried ipconfig -
release and -renew but still no luck.

If you can lead me to the correct answer it would be a great help.

regards,
Salvatore

Does the 24-port switch also have a DHCP server? If it does,
turn it off.

Also, what is the router's internal IP address? I would expect it
to be 192.168.0.1, so I'm surprised that it's DHCP pool goes from
192.168.0.1 - 250 inclusive.

Mandarins,

Hmmm.... Vendor and model of that new switch ?
I'm guessing that was not a switch you added, but
a router, and it may have a DHCP server, and be a full
blown NAT. If you could mention the vendor and model
then it might shed some light on the puzzle.

Enjoy,
