Linkysys router firewall?

I have a Linksys router (BEFSR41) and Access Point (WAP-11b). When setting
them up, I remember coming across sonething in the documentation to the
effect that one or both come with a built-in firewall. Is this true? And if
so, is it as effective as an off-the-shelf firewall (e.g., McAfee, Norton,
etc.). Also, how can I verify that one of these devices does indeed have a
built-in firewall?

Thanks,
Mike

The BEFSR41 is a NAT (Network Address Translation) router and provides
firewall like protection. Check out

The WAP11 is a wireless access point and does not have any NAT or firewall
capabilities. It simply allows your Ethernet network to be accessed via
wireless clients. There many security issues that need to be addressed when
using the WAP...check out

If the Linksys router doesn't have a FW. It has NAT and maybe SPI and has
FW like features and meets the specs in the link.

http://www.homenethelp.com/web/explain/about-NAT.asp

If the 41 was a true FW appliance, it would meet the specs.
