At home on the main floor I have a LinkSys WRT54G V1.1 wireless router
updated with firmware V2.00.8 connected to my cable modem and a desktop PC
running Windows XP Pro. And I have this WUSB54G USB wireless network adapter
for my desktop PC or a laptop in the basement (both running Windows 2000 Pro
with Service Pack 4). Either the WUSB54G adapter is connected the desktop or
connected to the laptop PC in the basement, every so often (like every half
an hour or as long as every few hours or so) the wireless connection breaks,
and then I have to un-plug the WUSB54G adapter from the USB port and then
re-plug it in, and then click the Connect button in its WLAN monitor
interface GUI to get back the conneciton.

What to give? Any idea how to fix the problem?

James

According to the LinkSys support site, V1.1 routers do not use V2.xx
firmware? Do you know that this is OK?
I and using firmware V.1.42.3 and having similar problems.
When I boot the laptop it sometimes connects immediately and sometimes takes
as much as 10 minutes.
The signal strength is normally "very good" i.e. 4 or 5 bars, yet it still
drops out occasionally.

according to a few reports on the net, the firmware revision 2.00.8 does
work with V1.0 or V1.1 hardware revision.

still, can't find out how to fix the wirless drop/break problem.
