You need to be connecting to your public IP address (assigned by your
ISP) and not the private IP address of your router.
You can find out your public IP address by bringing up the Status page
on your router while at home. Keep in mind that it can change at any
time so you might want to look into one of the services that let you
associate your IP address /w a domain name on a dynamic basis. That
way you can just connect to whateverdomain.com and it will find your
router. Some are free some are for fee.
Also, if your work uses outbound firewalls (and most all businesses
do) you may have a hard time making a VPN link work as they requrire
ports that are not normally open.
I would suggest using a dial up connection to the internet (no
firewalls, routers, or the like) to test with. Once that works then
you can try your work setup.
