Hey folks,

I just upgraded the firmware for this thing from factory install, which
was supposed to have fixed the PPTP pass-through issues I was having, but
now notice that the wireless signal strength has fallen through the floor
(so to speak). Everything else is working great if only I could somehow
boost the signal strength. Can someone point me in the right direction to
how I can do this? I suppose I could go back to the factory installed
firmware....if only I could find it anywhere! If anyone can point me to
where I might find this as well, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Dave

The same thing happen to me, the new firmware drops your signal strength.
I found the old firmware here

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/

look for " wrt54g_2.02.7_US_code.zip "

just copy and paste it to your desktop.

I didn't check if it's still there, but maybe you should be looking for:

Firmware Version: v2.02.8-security

OK, I found it:

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wr..._code_beta.zip

I haven't tested xmit power, because the machine I put it in isn't here
and isn't using WiFi at the moment, but this is supposed to be the same
as 2.02.7 except for minor changes which plug a security hole.
