Linksys WRT54G opinions

Hey folks,

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 and been using it for a long time, but have
always been disappointed with the throughput. I am contemplating the WRT54G
but I have a few needs:

1) stability: I have never had to reset the BEFW11S4 and expect the same
with WRT54G
2) must fully-support UPnP, i.e. MSN messenger voice and conference without
dropping connections, etc.
3) must be able to forward MS' VPN and Remote Desktop port
4) range: must be at least the same as the BEFW11S4

Anyone ever had any issues with the above. Does the most recent firmware
solve the problems with UPnP and port forwarding that I know this thing had
when it first hit the shelves?

Thanks for any input,

Dave

Dave,

I realize this is a late response to your post, but FWIW, at this
point, I wouldn't recommend the WRT54G. It worked fine for me for
about 6 weeks, providing wireless access to three different laptops
and wired access to 2 computers, but in the last week or so, the
router has started to regularly drop connections. Have to constantly
unplug, then pug back in the router to restore the connections.
Linksys website offers precious little in relevant support. It has
been frustrating. I'd look at Netgear or some other other vendor other
than Linksys for now.

D.
