Linksys WRT54G - not using router part

I am thinking of getting this router/switch/wireless combo.

My question is that initially I am just looking to replace a switch in my
home network with this and thus get wireless access. I do not need to use
the router port to connect to the net.

Do I just plug the cable from my server to this switch and if so does the
wireless part work ok that way?

I am planning on leaving the router port unplugged.

Thanks

Should work just fine ... But if you don't need the router, why not
simply get the WAP54G?

Thanks for the fast reply. I had thought about the wap54g but it doesn't
have a switch - so no hard wired connections.

If you already have a switch, I believe you just plug the WAP54G into
a port on your switch. More harware and more clutter, but it should
work.

Of course at the moment, you can buy the WRT54G for the same price as
the WAP54G, or maybe even less.

True. Only one wired connection on the WAP54...

Well, the Linksys Knowledgebase appears to be down right now. When it's
working, the below link will give you step-by step instructions for doing
what you want.

Thanks for the info. From my research it does appear that it can be done.
