Linksys WRP54GS - code 10 when installing in 98SE

The Linksys helpdesk says this is a Windows op sys problem:

I've installed the WiFi adapter in my Compaq Presario, had
it find new hardware, load drivers from the 98SE CD,
restart. The error message is "This adapter is not
working properly, you may need to update the driver...".
In Device Manager, the neworking adapter shows up as
installed, but is "not working properly, you may need to
update the driver...(Code 10)".

This done several times, including with Linksys on the
phone. No driver update is available. They say the op
sys is not "loading the driver properly" - ? Please help.

Never mind. I returned the >stinky< hardware and
purchased Windows version - the LM730 - it loaded and
worked immediately.
