Doug,
I can't speak to your specific PC, but it took me an extra few minutes to
get the WPC54G running in my Inspiron 5150 just today. I bought the card
yesterday to improve the range over the internal True Mobile 1300, which it
did greatly.
As to your question, I had to go into EVERY place I could apply settings to
configure the card. I used the Linksys utility, the XP utility, the utility
form device manager, and the wireless network configuration utility to
apply the settings. Once I did this, the card connected, with WEP
encryption, MAC address filtering and it improved my range by twofold.
I have an 802.111b setup with 3 desktops, 2 laptops, a pocket PC, WAP,
router and wireless signal booster.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
MG
