O.K. I don't know but I do have some thoughts.
If you have a Texas Instruments CardBus Controller, there is a note on the
driver download page about that.
The one experience I had with a similar situation was that the software was
listed in the Add/Remove software window, but would not uninstall or
reinstall. I had to do a registry search for the exact string and delete
it. The next install went fine. Word of warning, messing up the registry
can mess up your computer.
You might try doing the uninstall in safe mode. If it is a device, it might
show up there when it won't in normal mode.
