I want to install a Linksys wireless pc card on my win98
notebook. The driver install requires a dhcpsvc.dll file
from my win98se cd. This pc card spec requires win98se.
Can I find this .dll file without spending $$ upgrading
the OS a 4 yr old notebook?

You have two problems.

One is that your card requires Windows 98 Second Edition and you don't have
it installed on your computer. You can't just "find this .dll file" - it
won't work and will probably render your system unusable if you could. You
need to install Windows 98 Second Edition for the card to work.

The other is that you have a laptop. Most laptops won't work with an
off-the-shelf copy of Windows, they need customized versions to support
their unusual hardware. The only way I would recommend upgrading any laptop
to Windows 98 Second Edition is if the manufacturer will support the
upgrade - or better yet, provide you with the upgrade on CD.

I am having the same problem.
Can I purchase/download Windows 98 SE from Microsoft
website? If yes, will that help installing the Linksys
Wireless Card?

Windows 98 SE is no longer being actively marketed by Microsoft, but you
should be able to find it at some online retailers or eBay. And yes, if you
have the exact same problem then this should sort it out.

I have the same problem, but I am running Win98se. How do I get or
find: TCP/IP for Wireless-G Network Adapter...I removed other
adapters, per Linksys advise, and thied to add a new TCP protocol, but
the wireless-g one never showed up. My laptop is running version Win
98 se version 4.10.2222A...please advise!
