Linksys wireless boot glitch

Hi, we installed a Linksys usb wireless on linux. It works fine, except
that if we don't close the PC with a poweroff command (ex. disconnect
the pc from electricity), the wireless will fail to load on next boot
(on fedora 4, failed message : can't find usb adapter). It won't work
again until we shutdown the pc with poweroff command.

What can that command be doing to make our usb adapter work on next
boot?
What should we do (we can't always issue a poweroff command) to ensure
that the usb adapter boots everytime?

Thanks.
