Linksys wireless b and Win 98: clicking

I just purchased a Linksys wireless networking kit. It came with the
Linksys wireless router, and a Linksys Wireless-B notebook adapter, model
WPC11 v.4. I'm using the wireless card on an old laptop, a Compaq Presario
1600 XL-145 running Win 98 SE. The drivers installed fine, I can connect to
the router and to the Internet, but the card makes a horrible clicking noise
whenever there is connectivity activity. I disabled sound in PCMCIA
properties. That didn't help. I have the same model wireless card in a
newer laptop that's running Windows XP, and it does not make the clicking
noise. On my Win 98 laptop, other PC cards do not make clicking noises --
just the Linksys, and I swapped out the card from my Win XP laptop, just to
see if I had a defective card, but it too made the clicking noise. Any
suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Scott

I have the exact same problem as Scott Smith. I purhcased a Linksys
wireless-b notebook adapter for my compaq presario 1600, Win 98 SE.
Same awful clicking sound. No muting will get rid of it.

Any thoughts?

Alex
