Why wouldn't a person purchase a WGA11B to use as a bridge over the WET11. It seems as if they are very similar. In fact at first glance it seems like the new game adapter has a few nicer features. It also seems that the WGA11B is cheaper! Any thoughts out there?
Linksys WGA11B Wireless Game Adapter:
Amazon Price: $105.91

Linksys WET11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge:
Amazon Price: $69.99
http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=36&prid=432

Thanks for the input!

Dave

Yes, They are basically the same thing. Alot of people have had good luck
using the WET11 with the XBOX.
But the WGA11B seems better suited for the PS2.

But, the WET11 is for PC networks, you have the usual wireless options, like
SSID, WEP and channel settings. you don't get those options with the WGA11B,
it's dumbed down for easier gaming system set up.

In a way yeah but if you think about it, most would be connecting gaming
consoles to the WGA11B, and since you really can't mess with them in the
same way you can mess with computer, it's like putting dumb terminals on the
network...

personally I would not use the WGA11B on a computer.

(non-WEP) network. That doesn't seem completely reasonable in this day and
age. Thats just my opinion anyways.

Well, I wouldn't be _too_ appreciative of the input, because it's
incorrect. The WGA11B does indeed support WEP, SSID, and
intfrastructure and ad-hoc channel settings, etc. Your first instinct
was right in that the WGA11B does seem to be a better deal than the
WET11 because you can select individual channels and set up three
individual profiles, each with its own WEP password, SSID, etc., and
you can select these settings via front panel switches and an LED
readout (no computer needed once you set up your profiles). I am using
a WGA11B as a wireless bridge and considering the extra capabilities
and ease of use I don't know why anyone would select a WET11 now that
the WGA11B is on the market.
