Hi, I have used 2 WAP54g units configured in bridge mode for over a
year but always had to config both with same ip to get them to work
and it was very finicky. I had to restore them for 3 rd time yesterday
and discovered a recent firmware upgrade on linksys site when i
selected the upgrade option on control page. that fixed everything -
even mentions repeater capability which i didnt test. Best thing about
different IP's is you can connect both units to same hub or router,
open 2 different browser windows to appropriate IP and just cut n
paste mac addresses and settings back and forth. The status page shows
strange activity because you have both wired and wireless paths but
once configured you deploy the second unit to remote network -they do
expect to plug into a hub or router not directly to a pc nic. I also
use 2 cantennas focused on each other to get 600' at >1000 packets - 1
cantenna works but only 200 packets on status page. I havent activated
WEP yet but am led to believe it only will communicate with the
specific mac address of other WAP54.
