My wireless setup to my new Dell laptop drops after about 2 minutes
after logon. When I reconnect it is rock solid. The initial drop
however is driving me nuts!

I'm using the Linksys 8 port router, the wap54g access point and the
wpc54g pc card. I have done re-sets, config changes and nightly
prayers trying to get this fixed. Every time I boot up this happens.
It happens if I'm sitting next to the AP or in the next room. I have
unhooked my wireless phone, reset my entire network, and tried every
channel. I have changed every imagineable setting in both my wireless
setup and in my network settings on the laptop. I have very good
signal strength and once I connect the second time it will run for
hours and hours at 48-54mbs.

The linksys tech support people were NO help. They actually told me
that I had to expect this kind of performance because this equipment
was (in technician Alex's words) UNSTABLE!

Any help on this would be appreciated..

Goto the router setup screen
click on advanced
click on filters
at the bottom of the page is the setting for MTU what is it set for?
Depending on what service you use (cable DSL ect) it needs to be set
to some thing like 1500
