Linksys WAN woes

Hi, I've recently installed a Linksys WAN card to a lap top, connecting to a
Linksys router at my school.

Initially, the product worked just fine...for about 4 hours. It then lost
the connection to the internet. I phoned Linksys technical help and was
advised to uninstall and reinstall the driver software. This, I tried to do
by clicking on Start> Program Files, >Linksys uninstall. Initially, this
program wouldn't work. The technical advisor then pointed me towards the
System toolbox and we tried deleting a module there.

I've repeatedly tried uninstalling the software, to no avail. When I try
installing the software, I'm informed that the software can't be installed
as there is already a copy available within the computer. However,
uninstalling does nothing at all.....software simply doesn't want to go.

I am now in the position where the card doesn't work and have no way to
uninstall the software.

Any suggestions?

Phil

Hi Phil ...

Well, (and I offer this with caution) assuming the 'installer' doesn't
give you the option to uninstall you might have to have a poke about
in the registry.

First delete any folder created by the install c:\program
files\linksys etc (just the linksys bit!)

Export the complete registry as a backup.
Then search for 'linksys' and / or other related keys in the registry
and selectivly delete them. You may find it will then install again.
(I'm not going to tell you *how* to get in there as if you don't know
that maybe you shouldn't go in there in the first place ..)

All the best ..
