Linksys WAG54G - Problem Configuring

I seem to be having a problem with my daughter's Linksys WAG54G which,
for no obvious reason, appeared to lose its settings and revert to default.

She and I are both with Pipex but have different ADSL modems.

Using my settings I reconfigured the Linksys and got back onto the
internet, saved a configuration file so I could get back the connection
if any problems.

I then started to gradually alter the configuration, initially no
security for simplicity but whenever I alter the SSID the router does
NOT then show up when I view 'available wireless networks'.

I have the SSID broadcast and not hidden.

I'm baffled at the moment, anyone any ideas.

With the original WAG54G not the version 2 I had to reboot the router
before some changes would take effect.

Updated the firmware and now all OK but not sure why it lost the
settings in the first place though.
