I just bought a Linksys USB200M for my Dell D600 because I think the
NIC is going out on my box. I wanted to rule that out, so a friend
suggested that I try a USB NIC to see if it was the OS or the hardware.
I am now trying to get this darn thing working but I am having no
luck. I can see the NIC in dmesg (usb 4-1: new high speed USB device
using ehci_hcd and address 4). I have tried to load and unload usb
modules up to my eyeballs. i did get a green light (happy blinky
network lights) once , but I have not been able to repeat it. I have
tried to use YAST to install it as a ethernet device, a usb device.
Both of which do nothing for me. Anyone been through this? Anyone
have any ideas as to why I am such a n00b and cant get this working?
Thanks for your help.... Oh, I have searched on google for this
problem and found that I might need a usb module called ax8817x.ko. I
see it in my kernel config (make xconfg) and it is set to be a module,
however, I dont see the module named ax8817x.ko. Only usbnet.ko.
Please HELP.
