All, I have a Sony Vaio running W98SE. My ordeal started
when I tried to the install Linksys Wireless-G adapter
card ... unsuccessfully! The install worked on W98 1st ed
and XP laptops in 15 minutes. I installed/uninstalled the
Linksys stuff dozens of times until finally I get an
undocumented message (10093:Successful WSAStartup not yet
performed) from Linksys trying to bring up the WLAN
monitor.
Linksys told me to install a new driver for the card; when
I went to use my Earthlink to dial into the internet, I
found that the DIALUP DOES NOT WORK! It dials, connects,
but then Explorer experiences an exception c06d007eH in
module sens.dll at 016f:6010857f. Sickening. I tried to
uninstall and reinstall DUN, but to no avail. Tried to
use a new DUN adapter ... nogo. Tried
uninstalling/installing the Earthlink Software ... no go.
Tried restoring wsock32.dll from the cabs ... no go.

Can you folks help me at least get the dialup back. If
anyone has any ideas how to cleanly pull of the linksys
software, that will also be welcomed.

This should get you going in the right direction - ignore the virus slant,
we know no virus did the damage; you and Linksys did. :-)

Richard, I think you posted a reply to the wrong message
here. Or if not, what should get me going in the right
direction?
Regards,
Lance

The webpage link I gave you tells how to correct the Sens.dll error. The
page itself concentrates on the possibility that a virus caused the damage,
but you and I know that no virus did it.

Richard, thank you for helping me get to the SFC advice in
KB298436 ... I was able to connect without getting the
error in sens.dll after restoring Wsock32.dll . However,
I brought up IE6 and still cannot get out to the
internet.

Hmmm ... let's keep going now that we're on a roll. Get a copy of AdAware
from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ (and you'll probably have to manually
download and install the updated definition files since your PC still can't
connect to the Internet), install it, then install the updated signature
files, then run it. Clean off everything it finds, then reboot and run it
again. Keep running, cleaning and rebooting until the system is clean.
