linksys trouble

just got linksys router & usb adaptor, i've set both of them up so there is a
good signal between them but i can't connect to the internet without a cable.
can anyone instruct me on how to get a wireless internet connection, ntl said
i need to put ahost name: ntl, dynamic not static ip & dns number
:194.168.4.100.sorry but i'm not to clued up on this sort of thing. thanks
