Good morning!

I recently moved into my girlfriend's house. She has a linksys G router and
her girls use their laptop anywhere in the house with no problem at all.
So, i went and bought a belkin G adapter. I had a heck of a time setting it
up, which included a call to belkin. Finally, I was able to connect and use
the internet. I'm roughly 7 feet away from the wireless router. Now, when
I connect to the internet, or rather the router, it says

wireless connection 5
Speed 11.0Mbps
Signal Strength: excellent
Status: connected.

When I first connected, it was connecting on wireless connection 1 at
54Mbps. Where are the other 4 connections? why is my speed to slow?

Please help. Tis a bit frustrating....

Fred

Are the other 4 connections not the girls'?
Or you didn't release the connection when you finished the using.May the
number of the router's max users is 5.Then 5*11=54.
--That is just my consideration.

Most routers have a status page that shows the connected computers by
MAC address. And most G routers will fall back to B if there is a B
adapter connected. Finally, I think there may be a setting such as G
only, B only or G or B. Check out the router setup pages.

Good luck, jimbo

userid <leave blank>
password - admin

This sorta worked, but it won't go past the user name screen without a user
id...

would that be the network name?

Linksys "default" is username blank and "admin" for password.

Duh. What part of "Linksys 'default' is username blank and 'admin' for
password" is the mystery there?
