Linksys Router Irritation

About 3 months ago I replaced my previous hard wire only Linksys Router with
a second-hand Dual Band Wireless A+G Broadband Router acquired on E bay. My
ISP is Ntl Broadband 2mps. Our two desk top PC's continue to be ethernet
connected but the wireless is useful to enable net connection on my Dell
Axim x50v. Once going the router works flawlessly all day but irritatingly
requires unplugging and reconnecting to get it going most mornings after our
PC's have been left off over night. Since switching from a desk top box to a
cable modem some months before the the router change my ntl connection
itself has been very reliable.

Will I have to replace the router to avoid my irritation or is it fixable
please?

The first thing is to establish why you need to "get it going" in the
morning. The only thing that springs to mind is an issue with DHCP on the
WAN interface of the router. The Status tab of the router's web
administration interface might offer a clue (obviously, you need to
investigate when it is not working but before you unplug/reconnect the
router).

That's why it was on ebay. Wht buy items when you don't know if they work?
Cheap isn't the best option. I always prefer to buy from a shop, then at
least you can return the item.
The actual router is just crashing on you. I would have said it was to do
with allocting the IP number but they only change every few months on cable.

I have a similar problem on a Linksys Cable/DSL wireless router (low speed).
Problems greatly improved by Firmware upgrade - very easy to do d/l from
linksys website.
I further issues, contact Tech Support via website & they respond failry
quick with good advice and user instructions.
