i have a linksys instant wireless access point + cable router with 4
port switch. it is model befw11S4, with fireware 1.37.9b, Jun 21 2001.
it is old, for a wireless router, and some of the pages on the configure
sheets are starting to act up. occasionally the pages with not update
when i hit apply, and some buttons dont show up always. would updating
teh firmware solve this??? or are the admin webpages static?

Hi Alex,

Updating the firmware should be the way to go and is generally a good
thing to do.

Regards,

Tjardick

The firmware level one your router is very old.
It was not until sometime in 2002 that linksys updated the firmware to
*not* be Microsoft specific in dealing with browsers.
It was well known that, for example, linksys routers would not react
properly to Mozilla under OS/2. For some time, the only reasonable way
to configure a Linksys router was to do so from a Windoze machine. I
know that I had to.

I would presume that the same problem results from using Linux. (IIRC
it had to do with the java(script)..)

The firmware was changed. If the firmware stream is the same for both
the wired and wireless routers, the problem was fixed by the 1.41
revision.
