Linksys HPN200 and Windows 2000 taskbar icon

I recently installed an HPN200 network card in a Windows 2000 (sp4)
PC. Everything seems to work fine - the computer connects to my
existing HPNA network, and I have no problems using the network from
this PC.

However, I enabled the taskbar icon for the HPN200 network adapter,
and noticed that the light indicating that data is being transmitted
is always on (literally always - it does not flicker, it is simply
permanently on as long as the network card is enabled). If I look at
the HPN200 control panel dialog, I can see that even when I am not
doing anything, the number of "Packets Transmitted" is constantly,
slowly increasing.

This PC also has an ethernet card installed - when I disable the
HPN200 and plug the computer directly into my router using the
ethernet card, the ethernet card's taskbar icon does not exhibit this
behavior. It is unique to the HPN200 - it does not appear to be
something driven by a service or application on my PC.

Is this normal (something specific to the HPNA protocol or something),
or does this indicate a defective card? Has anyone else with an HPN200
card noticed the same thing?
