Linksys Gaming Adapter and AP setup for XBOX (MAC filtering)

I've got a Linksys gaming adapter WGA54G and link into a WAP54G access
point (linksys). I have everything configured nicely, but want to add
MAC address filtering to add to security.

Trouble is I can't get it to work, the MAC address of the adapter is
on the side (I've also double checked this by pluggin it into my wired
LAN) and I enter this into the filter section of the AP setup and it
stops working!

I'm using through an XBOX, do I need to filter on the XBOX MAC as
oppose or in addition to the adaptors? Does it not work for XBOX
connection?

Any help greatly appreciated.

there are 2 kind of mac filtering,
accept all exclude on list and only accept connect from device on list, see
if that the case

I also have a Linksys wireless game adapter WGA54G linking to a WRT54G and
can't get it to work. I direct-connected it to the router to set it's
parameters and everything seemed to be okay. I disconnected from the router
and connected it to the XBOX and it never gets recognized.

What version bios do you have. I was able to get the WGA54G to work
(Wireless-G light was off) w/my WRT54g after downgrading my firmware
from 1.42.3 to 1.42.2 (U.S.). Also, remember to turn off filtering
and turn on broadcasting the first time you connect. When connected,
check the MAC addresses of the XBOX on the status page of the WRT54G
router (DHCP client table). Add that and the MAC address of the
WGA54g adapter to your List of MAC address and permit only those MAC
addresses to access the internet. This assumes that you are otherwise
correctly configured, with the correct SSID and WEP settings. After
you've confirmed that all is working, reenable MAC filter (the permit
access mode). I'm not familiar w/XBOX Live, but you may wish to
create a DMZ w/ the REAL IP address of the WGA54g. Note that the REAL
IP address of the wga54g is the one that you assigned to it, not the
one that you see in the DHCP client table. I'm not sure, but I think
that, on the WGA54g, the Ethernet port (which the game system sees) is
the address you assign to the device. The wrt54g router translates
that address to a LAN address, which is what you see on the DHCP
table. Unfortunately, I'm no expert and I'm just guessing based on
what I've seen, so I could be wrong about that part.

Turns out I'm wrong about the MAC address bit. I was assigning the
wga54g an address within the range served by the wrt54g's dhcp server,
so the wrt54g was assiging an address to the wga54g. Just assign the
wga54g an address outside the range of the wrt54g's dhcp server (e.g.,
the default address for the wga54g should work), then place that
address in the DMZ to avoid firewall problems during games.

Does the gaming adapter support WPA or just WEP ?

Not according to the following review and I have not seen that ability
yet. My home network includes a Win98SE (w/out a WPA client), so I
wasn't looking for WPA support at this time anyway.
