Linksys Game Adaptor Help

Hopefully someone can help me out....

I have my modem hooked up to a Juniper Router which is
then hooked up to a Linksys access point system - G
(which allows my laptop and my wifes desktop to be
connected wireless to the internet). These devices are
upstairs.

I purchased the Linksys game adaptor (reads B & G)and
first tried hooking it up to my Xbox (which is downstairs)
to receive a signal. Unfortuately, the adaptor could not
receive a signal.

I then hooked my game adaptor to my laptop via the
ethernet connection and ran the software, it still did
not receive a signal.

I then hooke up the game adaptor to the Juniper router,
still no signal. Without a signal, it is impossible to
run the software (linksys). I pinged the IP pf the
adaptor and ran the software successfully but still not
signal from the adaptor.

Am I missing something or is the adapator defective? I
believe the latter.
