I am after advice on how to get my wireless network working. system
detail's are -
BEFW11S4 connected by ethernet cable to a pc running winxp pro. Acer
laptop with a linksys G3 802.11g network card running xphome.

the pc works ok on internet but the laptop very rarely connects to the
router it says the wireless connection it unavailable. i have got the
laptop connected but then it is painfully slow on the net it seems to
hang the connection when loading pages. so far i have reset the router
to default settings and reinstalled the drivers for the laptop card, i
have upgraded the firmware for the router. The modem is a terayon
cable modem, if i connect the laptop by ethernet cable to the router
it works fine. as the laptop randomly connects to the router i am
starting to think i have either a faulty 3g wireless card or the
router is faulty.

Any suggestion's appreciated

Paul

I'm betting it's the card. I've read that Linksys Wireless-B and
Wireless-G hardware does not play well together. With the BEFW11S4
there are even cases of the Wireless-B client cards not working well.
I have the Linksys WPC11 v4 with the BEFW11S4, and they work fine
together ( after upgrading the WPC11's driver and replacing the Linksys
config/monitor program with biongo's).

Thanks for the reply

I telephoned linksys support and they said it was the card also, so
i'll return it tomorrow, now you have mentioned that the G3 cards
don't work too well with the router i think i'll change it for a
802-11b card.

Paul.
