Hiya folks,

I have just bought one of these router/switches from E-bay and am in
the process of trying to get it set-up on my network, but it does not
seem to want to play nice for me.

My set-up is, a Windows 2003 server which runs DNS and DHCP, which is
connected to a 8port hub, the internet comes in via a old laptop
running Windows XP with a USB Fujitsu modem and Internet Connection
sharing, the DHCP has list machines IP (192.168.80.100) listed as its
default gateway.

The other 3 machines on the network when connected via the hub can see
this gateway and connect to the Internet.

I have connected this router up to a stand-alone laptop to configure
it per the manual which I have downloaded from the LinkSys homepage,
the machine can see the in-built DHCP server both from the CAT5 and
the WiFi.

As soon as I connect the router/switch to my hub and switch off the
inbuild DHCP server to move over to the Windows 2003 DHCP the WiFi
loses it's connection, the CAT5 connection will move over successfully
to my own DHCP.

I have tired to reset the firmware on this machine but the LinkSys
site listed the firmware update but it wont come down properly, I keep
getting invalid image when trying to update the router.

Can any one give me any ideas on where to go next?

MTIA

Stan

Are you connected Lan port on the BEF11S4 to the Hub?
Your wireless connection may have retained the IP address allocated by
the Linksys ,do a ipconfig /renew should force the
wireless machine to obtain a new IP address.

Are you using a wired connection to do this ?Wireless is notorious for
causing data corruption in firmware transfers so use a wired connection
for upgrades(this includes downloads). The Linksys site lists the ver
1.50.13 as only for use on ver.4 BEF11S4 Routers which ver. is yours?
