A shame that Linksys has decided NOT to provide a software update to
original BEFW11S4 model users to provide WAP capability.

You can use a VPN protocol to encrypt the data along with WEP.

It would appear the Linksys WAP11 is not on the list as well! I'm sure they have their reasons...

Do you know of any resources for implementing this (beginner-to-intermediate
level)?

If you're talking VPN machine to machine on your network valid end points
or to another VPN network, yes I can find some info for you. But if
you're talking wireless machine to router with VPN using the router as an
end point, I did some checking and found it doesn't work that way.

Sorry for the mis-information on this.

I have a machine running Windows Server 2003 that could be used as the VPN
server I believe; I just need some steps in the right direction. MS's
documentation is a bit high level and has several servers in the example
setup whereas I only have one.

This is about the best I can do for you.

Maybe, you can pull things out of it that will get you started. That and
using the MS stuff you found.
