You might try:
Placing the wireless router/AP higher off the ground.
Adjust the direction of the antennas in relation to where the laptop is used
(rotate the AP)
Maybe even adjust the angle of the antennas- mine (BEFW11S4) seems to wok
best about 30 degrees off of vertical.
You could also consider an (aftermarket) antenna with some gain keeping in
mind it's still a 2-way street. Boosting the AP is only to the laptop. The
laptop is still dependent on whatever wireless device it's using to get back
to the AP. In your case I have no experience with the internal wireless
devices such as the "Centrino" line. I do however have a Linksys 802.11b PC
card but have recently replaced it with an Orinoco Gold card and the Orinoco
card greatly out performs the Linksys and it has an external antenna
connection. Hope these links help.
