Linksys BEFSR41 : firewall?

My new linksys router says it has a built in firewall that uses NAT and
TCP/IP port inspections.

Do I need an independent SW firewall such as Kerio too?

imho, you cannot be "too safe", multi-layered protection is superior to a
single solution.

additionally, the router is unlikely to be able to block rogue applications
that are inadvertently installed on lan nodes, a function that software
firewalls commonly provide...
