Google "file sharing windows xp" (no quotes) and you will find tons of
easy-to-follow steps to share files over a LAN.

offers an a-z description of xp file-sharing along with configuration
instructions and troubleshooting advice. Once you've set it up, chances
are pretty good that you won't have to troubleshoot for some time, if
ever.
