Linksys AP's in bridge mode for ReplayTV?

I'm trying to hook up 2 Access points in Bridge mode to enable my replaytv's
to stream video on the network but cannot get it to work! I have used the
setup wizard software to assign IPs equivallent to the static IPs assisgned
to each of the replaytv units. Maybe these should be different IP numbers?

Then I have gone to the web browser to configure the bridge mode. It says
to enter (space for 4) Lan Mac address. I entered the mac address for my
WRT54G and the mac address of the other AP. But no connection is made when
I try to connect to the network.

If anyone can guide me in setting this up I would be greatly appreciative!
I know my wireless network works because I have a notebook on line.

Bad move. Every device needs a unique IP address, including your APs.

Start by not using duplicate IPs...

OK Thanks that might be the problem. Will fix and report back.

Ok I changed the IP but I cannot ping the AP (in bridge mode) after it's
connected to the replaytv rj45 port.

On the configuration screne it says it will only work in bridge mode with
another WAP and I assume that the WRT54G qualifies as a WAP in this
instance. And I put the Lan Mac Address of the router into the WAP Bridge
mode section. (I assume the 0 are all zeros and not capital "O"s)

Am I missing a part here or using this inapproriately.

As I understand it, Linksys is a bit anal about bridge vs router/ap mode. I'm
not sure you can assume that the WRT54G qualifies, as there is no way to put it
into Bridge only mode. It's always a router.

That said, you should be able to hook up both Replays without having to do
bridge mode.

Do I understand you correctly? You have a WRT54G and a WAP54G and you want to
hook up two Replays, one wired to the WRT54G and one using the WAP54G?

This is from linksys web site describing features of WRT54G:

a.. All-in-one Internet-sharing Router, 4-port Switch, and Wireless-G
(802.11g) Access Point
WRT54G connected to DSL and 3 wired computers. Then I have a wireless
notebook so I know the wireless is functiong. And 2 replays one in living
room and one in bedroom that I want to add to my network enabling updated
guides over the internet and stream video recorded on one to be viewed on
the other.

On wizard I was very careful to duplicate all wireless setting WEP,
channels, G only mode, Key phrase the same etc. My LAN is 192.168.1.1, one
WAP assigned 192.168.1.100, replay IP 192.168.1.110. On the setup page
(browser) there are 3 Mac Addresses 1 for DSL, 1 for the LAN, and 1 for the
Wireless Network. I entered the LAN Mac Address into the WAP config
screne(it allows for 4 Mac Address). Is this the correct one to use?

Any ideas of where to go from here?

OK. So far, so good.

OK. One WEP in each room should do the trick.

Don't think you used the right MAC. The one it looks for is the "outside" or DSL
MAC, not the wired or wireless "inside" network MAC.

Make sure you set the WET to work in "Infrastructure Mode" and not "Ad Hoc
Mode".

I'd also suggest disabling the security until you get everything working clear
text, but it sounds like you are OK there.
