Hi All,
A short question. Wondered if these line figures are ok, great or poor etc.
Figures come from the Speedtouch 330.

ReceiveAttenuation_dB= 28
ReceiveMargin_dB= 27
RxOutputPower_dBm= 0
SendAttenuation_dB= 13
SendMargin_dB= 27
TotalBytesReceived= 424
TotalBytesSent= 689
TotalPacketsReceived= 10
TotalPacketsSent= 10
TxOutputPower_dBm= 0

Line appears to support 2Megabit with no effort at all. Thanks for any
answers.

Andrew.

the margin figures show you have plenty in hand for faster speeds. 2 -
2.5 km line length.

Tiscali - dialup speeds at Broadband prices, see

AOL - the unlimited ISP of choice for heavy downloaders.

Is there a link which translates attenuation etc. to speed?

I have the router connected at the master socket and then use Ethernet
to carry the data round the house while voice goes into a big patch box
for distribution.

What effect does internal wiring (downstream of the master socket) have
on line speeds?

Regards

It *can* have an effect on noise margin, which in turn will affect line speed.

For minimal effect place a master ADSL filter at the master socket position,
but if this is not possible ensure that all cabling upstream of the ADSL
filter uses proper BT spec twisted pair cable and connection blocks.

Have a look at:-

estimates only.

it can introduce noise, which on a rate adapting service would reduce
speed. On a fixed speed service like the current BT portfolio it would
reduce reliability but in your case there is plenty of headroom.
