I have a desktop running Windows 2003 Server at home. The machine is used
mainly as a development machine and has been in place for almost 2 years. It
is a DHCP client with a very basic setup. It is not a member of any AD
domain (there isn't one on the network) and there are only 3 other computers
on the network.
A few days ago, my network setup seems to have changed. It now appears that
some ports are available while others are not.
I can use the RDP client to connect to other machines. I can resolve and
ping other hosts / addresses.
I cannot open web pages on other machines or use PPTP to establish a VPN
connection to a host.
I don't think this is an issue related to my network firewall device or any
type of network wide TCP/IP setup issue. Other machines are fine. I have
even switched network connections. Definitely something limited to the local
machine. I am not aware of any changes that occurred on the machine in any
areas. Has anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions?
thanks,
-Andrew
