Check to make sure you have speed and duplex matches properly set at all
points between the PC and the server (including all switch, hub, and router
points). I have the feeling that you might have one or more set at
auto-negotiate, and some of them aren't doing so properly. If possible, try
to set all the points to 100Mbps, full duplex.
Also, check all the wiring between the workstation and the server with a
time-domain relfectometer, to insure continuity and quality.
Finally, is your network stack set up properly? You might have a
misconfigured default route as well.
