Hi all

Not sure if this is a Word issue or a network drive/mapping one!
I have a user in a Win2003 Server environment accessing Word files on a
mapped share.
If a Word file is located on his local drive, double clicking the file
launches word.
If the file is on the mapped share nothing happens when he double clicks the
same file.

Looking at drive security, domain users have full control of the mapped
drive.

Anyone any ideas why this should happen?
All other users are on same XP clients and access Word files without issues.

TIA

Phil

Does this happen with other file types in the same folder? Excel? Notepad?

Thanks Lanwench

This has only ever affected Word files and annoying as it is, the problem is
intermittent!
Just went up to the user's machine and launched both Word and Excel files
straight off the mapped drive.
How do you troubleshoot an intermittent event like this?

Phil

It's a pain, for sure. But I suggest you post in a Word group for more
expert help. Of course you also should make sure that Office & windows are
both fully patched & try more testing, first....good luck.
