Laptops which have adsl modem ??

?? Any of the new IBM's or Advents ??

Doubt it - what are you looking to do? Are you just looking to reduce
clutter or are you needing to move between different locations with ADSL?
You could look at getting a Netgear DM602 which is very small and comes with
USB and Ethernet connections.

What benefit is their in building the modem into a laptop? Unlike a
standard modem you can't just plug into any phone line and make a
connection...

An even worse whilst you can make modems work on most any phone line there
are two (at least) standards for ADSL.
ADSL over - POTS as used in the UK and some other european countries (france
?), and ADSL over ISDN as used in Germany and Holland (and probably
elsewhere) which require different chip sets in the modem.

What about PCMCIA, Isn't that as good as internal?

Not obvious though is it:

1. You have a domain registered with a TLD for the Pacific island of
Tokelau
2. Your ISP uses the news servers of an American ISP
3. Only your IP address identifies you as a customer of v21.co.uk (or a
reseller)

Usenet doesn't understand country boundaries so just because the post
was in a uk. newsgroup doesn't mean it came from a UK poster
