Laptop not recognizing Internet Connection - Help!

I've got a LinkSys Router with the wireless access point connected. I
have 3 computers on my home network. Two of them are connected to
Router via standard Ethernet cable and the third one is a Toshiba
Laptop connected wirelessly using the LinkSys wireless card (WAP11,
Version 2.0). The laptop is running Windows 2000 Professional.

The problem is that when I boot up my laptop computer, approximately
80% of the time it *doesn't* recognize a live internet connection. In
other words, if I try to browse a webpage using Internet Explorer, I
receive an error as if there isn't an internet connection. The only
way to correct the problem is to reboot the computer and try it again.
Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 reboots before it works. Once it connects
to the internet, it works perfectly for the entire session.

Any idea what might be causing this? I did reinstall the drivers for
the wireless card but that didn't correct the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

Are you running a Wi-Fi client on the laptop? Does this see a connection?

Try Boingo client http://www.boingo.com/download.html - you don't have
to sign up for anything....

Check that the Gateway (on the problem PC) is the same as the router IP...

When you have the problem try pinging the WAP11, Router, cable modem(?)....
this should help show where the problem is.

What is MS Blast and how do I know if I have it? Also, I am not sure what
you mean by "Wi-Fi" Client.

How many network cards are "enabled"? Disable all but the wireless NIC.

The wireless NIC is the only network card that I have enabled. I do bring
the computer to my office and connect to a "hardwired" ethernet cord when I
am there. The only time I use the wireless card is when I am at home.
