Laptop not detecting Nework adapter, etc.

Hi,

I am attempting to network my WinME machine to a Dell Win98 laptop via. a
Linksys router (not wireless) and using the Home Networking wizard. When
running the wizard on the Dell laptop, I get a dialog box stating that no
network adapter has been detected. However, I am able to share my cable
internet connection with this laptop, and the Linksys pcmcia ethernet card
shows up in the device manager. How do I get the networking wizard to
recognize the network adapter card in the laptop? Also, being a newbie to
networks, is the networking wizard the best method to configure the two pc's
to share files and printer?
