I am looking to Wireless up the home. UNfortunately we can't get ADSL
or Cable here, so I am still depending on dialup to the world, but I
want to future proof the rest, by going 802.11g. As Such, I am
looking at Dlink DWLG520's on the desktops, going to a Dlink DI624 (a
Access Point is only a few dollars Cheaper but misses Firewalling
features etc). Then for the time being, I will sit it all behind a
Netgear RM356, or SMC 7004ABR to give me the PSTN Connection. Any
thoughts or gotchas on this?

The main question however, is one of my suppliers has offered
"LanReady" brand PCI Cards, marginally cheaper than Dlinks. LanReady
appear to be out of Taiwan., Any comparisions with them and the Major
players?

Peter

Hi Peter,

Just a personal opinion, but, I'd rather spend a few more bucks on a
brand I trust. If you trust DLink already, why not stick with them?

Yes and some DLink routers support UPnP (allowing Messenger/Netmeeting etc
through NAT without needing to open thousands of ports).

4 not thousands, UPnP is broken

Oh hell yes! Think of a computer as a tiny, super complex street
hooker. The more you put in.. Wait. No. That's not a good
analogy... Um... A computer is like a piece of paper. Er. No.
Um. I really have no idea how they work.
