Lan Drivers for Connecting Windows Server 2003 Laptop to Broadband

Hi

I have a new Acer 5620 laptop running Windows Server 2003 which I am trying
to connect to the internet by pluygging it into a Netgear wireless router
using an Ethernet cable.

I know the hardware is fine - I can connect my other computers to the
internet using this router, and was able to connect the Acer laptop to the
internet when it first arrived and was running Vista.

I rang my ISP (Utility Warehouse), who told me I needed to install the
appropriate Lan drivers, which are apparently available from the
Microsoft.com.

I cannot find any reference to these drivers.

My priority is to connect using the ethernet cable, however being able to
connect wirelessly at the same time would be a bonus.

Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Drivers can be found at Acer if they exist.

2. Retail (home-user) Proprietary machines (like Laptops and most desktops)
that came with Vista preinstalled are equipmed with hardware that *does not
have* drivers for anything except Vista. The HP Laptop I have forced me to
get Vista on it which I didn't want. The hardwre does not have drivers for
any OS other than Vista (I tried),...so I am stuck with Vista on that
machine.

When you purchase through Commercial (non-retail) Accounts you can usually
get the equipment with your choices of OS's (like XP for example),...when
you do this the equipment arrives with slightly different hardware that has
the drivers available for the OS you are using.

One solution,..if this is a "test lab" situation,..is to leave the laptop
with the original OEM "loadup",...install VirtualPC or Virtual Server on the
machine (both free from MS),..then load whatever OS you want to experiment
with into a Virtual Machine.

Many thanks.

The Acer driver download facility is very unhelpful, so I had to pretty much
guess which driver I needed. Luckily I guessed right (one of the Broadcom
drivers for XP).
