LAN connection issue

Hello,

I setup a 802.11b wireless PC card on a Windows XP Pro SP2 notebook for a
user in my office for him to use while traveling at hotels and airports. The
card is setup for dynamic ip addressing. He recently had a wireless network
setup at home by a vendor but cannot get his notebook to connect to his
wireless LAN. He stated the card keeps acquiring the business ip settings
instead of the local LAN settings.
I do not know yet what type of wireless network he has however I do know we
use a VPN connection to connect to our work LAN. The only thing I can think
of is that the VPN connection is made and that's what causing the business ip
to be assigned instead of the local wireless LAN.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I need to check with him to see if the tech used static settings or not for
the home wireless LAN. At the same time if the tech used static ip settings,
why didn't it override the supposed work ip settings he's getting?
Also, the user has no idea how to setup automatic network detection and
connection for the VPN unless the tech figured it out.
I'm also waiting to hear back from the user to find out what type of
wireless network the tech installed. The card is only a 802.11b and it's
possible the tech installed a G network only.

Thanks.....
