I have a 5 station network using one comupter as host/client and 4 as clients
with shortcut links to files on host. All using XP. Recently swithched
broadband carriers with dedicated addresses to automatically find addresses.
Now, I get frequent lan dropped connections during the day. Does not affect
internet connectons. Will reboot host and works fine then may drop
connections after some time.

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot?

What Microsoft Broadband Networking hardware are you running? That's what
this newsgroup supports, otherwise I'd suggest contacting your service
provider regarding whatever modem/base station they may have provided.

The only other option then stating what Microsoft hardware you are running is
reading an article like http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308007 How to
troubleshoot home networking in Windows XP
