On your work PC browse to www.whatismyipaddress.com

This will reveal your WAN IP address, but connecting real VNC will
involve port forwarding through your company's firewall.

It might not help, learning your work PC's IP (if it is one on a LAN, it
will only have a LAN address, and you cannot connect direct to it). If
there is a router (to allow many PCs to connect) then it needs changes
to be made on that router. Ask whoever is responsible for the router
to allow access. There might be reasons the firm would not want you
to connect from outside, so it could put your job on the line.

If you are using dial-up, you might be very disappointed using VNC to
do anything over the link. Sorry if this sounds very negative.

What a coincidence 192.168.0.4 is the IP address of my printer!
